About the Culture Shift Studio

The Culture Shift Studio helps leaders build the clarity, emotional intelligence, and shared capacity needed to create what we call an essential lovable culture — a culture where people can do meaningful work with more honesty, intention, and care.
We believe every organization can evolve. And that evolution always starts with people.
The Culture Shift Studio wasn’t something I planned — it grew out of twenty years of learning, breaking patterns, and watching organizations try to do the same.
I spent the early part of my career in civic innovation. As a Presidential Innovation Fellow, I helped create Innovation.gov and the Better Government Movement. I worked with agencies across the federal government, and I saw up close how culture — not strategy, not technology — was the biggest influence on whether anything changed.
Then, in 2018, my life unraveled. A role ended. A beloved project dissolved. A personal plan fell apart. And in the middle of all of it, my dad died unexpectedly.
How the Culture Shift Studio Came to Be
I went halfway around the world on what I affectionately call my "Eat, Pray, Self-Love" tour, because I didn’t know what else to do. That time opened me up to ideas I’d never let myself consider: groundlessness, grief, compassion, old survival patterns, and the invisible scripts we carry into every room we walk into.
When I came back, I saw workplaces differently.
I could see the patterns underneath the conflicts. The habits underneath the burnout. The fears underneath the decision-making. The conditioning underneath the “this is just how we do things.”
And I realized:
Culture doesn’t change because we create new strategies. Culture changes because people do.
That insight led to the Culture Shift Studio.
We believe culture change isn’t a mandate or a one-off initiative — it’s an ongoing process that requires alignment, accountability, and meaningful participation.

Amy brings 20+ years of experience across government, tech, and social impact sectors. A former White House Presidential Innovation Fellow and author of Empathy for Change, she helps teams unlearn inherited norms, build emotional intelligence, and co-create lovable cultures rooted in purpose and clarity.
